⚡ Energy: Planning mode activated
💖 Status: Meal prep, outfit prep, emotional armor prep
🥰 Outlook: Tina 2.0 is not walking back in unnoticed
Today was all about planning.
This coming week is Callback.
For those who are not fluent in transportation language, Callback is the week all of the transportation staff shows up before school starts.
We take classes.
We review procedures.
We get updates.
We prepare for the upcoming school year.
We sit in rooms with people we have not seen all summer.
We remember how early morning alarms work.
We pretend our brains are ready.
Cute.
For me, this year’s Callback is different.
Very different.
Because I have been out for almost a year.
Not on vacation.
Not taking a cute little break.
Not living my best life in a recliner with snacks and daytime television.
I have been fighting breast cancer.
Surgery.
Chemo.
Radiation.
Expanders.
Lymphedema.
Neuropathy.
Hormone shots.
Fatigue.
Appointments.
Reconstruction planning.
The whole unwanted Cancerland vacation package.
Zero stars.
Do not recommend.
So going back to work is not as simple as showing up, grabbing a packet, sitting in a chair, and pretending everything is normal.
Nothing about this feels normal.
This is a return.
A re-entry.
A “please do not perceive me too much but also please notice that I survived” kind of situation.
Which means today was about preparation.
Meal planning.
Because Tina 2.0 cannot just wander into a long workday and hope protein magically appears.
That is not a plan.
That is a hostage situation with low blood sugar.
So food has to be figured out.
Protein has to be involved.
Hydration has to be considered.
Snacks must be available.
The body now requires advance notice and proper staffing.
But let’s be honest.
Meal planning was only part of it.
The real project?
Outfits.
Because Tina 2.0 has lost fifty pounds.
Fifty.
Pounds.
Which means most of my old clothes either do not fit, do not feel right, or belong to a version of me I do not live in anymore.
I cannot just go back in jeans and a T-shirt like nothing happened.
No.
Absolutely not.
This is not a regular first day back.
This is not casual.
This is not “just grab whatever is clean.”
I need a couple of statement outfits.
Not because I am trying to impress anyone.
Not because I need approval.
Not because I am trying to prove I am okay.
I am not even sure I am okay.
But I do need to feel like myself.
Or maybe not my old self.
My new self.
Tina 2.0.
And Tina 2.0 needs armor.
That is what the outfits are really about.
Armor.
Fabric armor.
Cute armor.
Possibly with leopard print.
Possibly with shoes that say, “I may be tiny, but I am not here to be managed.”
Because people need to know I am not the old Tina.
The old Tina said yes too much.
The old Tina carried too much.
The old Tina stayed too long.
The old Tina gave work whatever was left of herself, and sometimes that was all of herself.
The old Tina thought being needed meant being valued.
Cancer changed that.
Cancer changed me.
Now?
The new Tina has no time for fake.
No time for bullshit.
No time for drama.
I have plenty of my own.
I do not need to borrow anyone else’s.
I am walking back in with scars.
With boundaries.
With a different body.
With a different energy budget.
With different priorities.
With fifty pounds gone.
With medical chest rocks.
With a compression sleeve.
With a bullshit filter.
With a nervous system that has been through enough.
And with the very clear understanding that I do not owe anyone access to the old version of me.
So yes, the outfits matter.
Because sometimes clothes help you remember who you are becoming.
Sometimes the right outfit says what your mouth does not need to.
Sometimes shoes are battle gear.
Sometimes earrings are emotional support.
Sometimes a shirt is a warning label.
Sometimes an outfit is not about fashion at all.
Sometimes it is about walking into a room where people remember the old you and silently saying:
“She does not live here anymore.”
That is what I am planning for.
Not perfection.
Not a makeover.
Not some dramatic movie reveal where everyone gasps and music plays.
Although let’s be honest, I would not hate the soundtrack.
I am planning for confidence.
I am planning for comfort.
I am planning for enough strength to get through the day.
I am planning for food that supports me.
I am planning for clothes that fit this body, not the one I had before.
I am planning for a version of me who can show up without shrinking.
Because this body fought hard to still be here.
This body deserves clothes that fit.
This body deserves food that fuels it.
This body deserves rest when it needs it.
This body deserves not to be shoved into old expectations just because other people are used to them.
Callback week is coming.
And I am not going back as trainer Tina.
I am not going back as yes-ma’am Tina.
I am not going back as the person who gives eleven-hour days, skips breaks, swallows stress, and calls it dedication.
I am going back as Tina 2.0.
Still healing.
Still tired.
Still figuring it out.
Still probably overthinking every outfit.
But also stronger in ways that do not show up on a physical.
Sharper.
Clearer.
Less available for nonsense.
More protective of the life I fought like hell to keep.
So today was planning day.
Meals.
Outfits.
Boundaries.
Armor.
Because next week, Tiny Tina walks back into Callback.
And whether I feel brave or not, I am going to look like a woman who knows exactly what she survived.
